A statue mesuring 30 meters tall and 28 meters wide. It weights around 635 metric tons. It was built in October 12, 1931 byHeitor da Silva

Christ the Redeemer is  colossal statue of Jesus Christ which is found at the summit of Mount Corcovado, Rio de Janeiro, in south eastern Brazil.  The statue is made of reinforced concrete clad in a mosaic of thousands of triangular soapstone tiles, it stands on a square stone pedestal it stands about 26 feet high, which  is situated on a deck on top of the mountain’s summit. Over the years, it has undergone many repairs, including a cleaning in 1980, in preparation for the visit of Pope John Paul II to Brazil. When the surface was repaired, escalators and  elevators were added beginning. Previously, in order to reach the statue, tourists had to climbed more than 200 steps.
